    Hi everyone,

My name is Rebecca and I work in the newly-formed Digital Victoria. I am a strong advocate for the life events approach (and HCD in general) and have spent the past couple of years in my role spreading the life events gospel around Victoria.

My work today focuses on how we can help Victorian Public Servants understand and use the life events approach in a way that works for them and makes our products, services, and content easier for Victorians to find and use. I am currently working on a design strategy to do this in a more structured way and would love to hear from people who have done similar work.

I am always interested in meeting new people so feel free to reach out and chat life events if you want to!

    :)

    Hi everyone.

I'm Cath Rayner and I have been working with life events for just on four years. My particular interest is in finding ways to describe the impact of pain points in a way that lets us compare and prioritise which should be worked on next. I recently moved to the Strategy and digital Workforce Policy team at the Australian Public Service Commission where I am still using the concepts from life events and human-centred design, applying them to the experiences of people working in the public sector.

Always happy to talk about measuring performance and prioritising work with other interested people.

    Hi,

My name is Geoff and I am the lead enterprise architect at AFP and lead the practice of design and technology strategy here. I am an advocate of user centric design of services and am in the early stages of introducing life event journeys as a tool in AFP and as an approach in the Home Affairs Portfolio as best I can influence.

Our current journey work is focused on both the community we engage with and the officers who need information services to deliver services to the community and partner agencies.

This approach is new to AFP, but I think the culture is open to adopting it.

Looking forward to working with you all,
    Geoff

    Hi All,
I'm Tamara and I'm a lead in the Digital Capability Unit at Transport and Main Roads in QLD - our team drives digital capability uplift across the department that combines formal training, knowledge networks, mentoring, learning by doing, and uplift and enablement by working alongside skilled practitioners (us and sometimes we bring in vendors) in everything from data engineering and business intelligence, through solving problems with design thinking and lean, to digital service design including customer research, prototyping and agile delivery.  I lead the digital design function, which is kind of like a DesignOps function in that we support a range of design activities and sometimes do delivery depending on capacity (very small team).

I'm interested in the Life Events work as it shifts service design and delivery to be much more customer centric than our current way of delivering products and services.  I'm also interested in where we can re-use or leverage work from the federal level - no point reinventing the wheel.

I look forward to getting to know community members here,
    Cheers
    Tamara

    Hello everyone,
I'm currently a data analyst at Services Australia. I started in Centrelink/welfare, and now looking at child support data. My agency is emphasising data collection around life events, like start/end of relationships, childbirth, and even immunisations. We're discussing how to streamline data collection and focusing service delivery around key events. One example of this is a recent trial at Canberra Hospital, where multiple agencies do as many forms as possible on the date of birth for a new child.

I'm interested to learn more about how different agencies fit together, and how we can further cooperate.

    Hello!

My name is Jacqueline (call me Jaxx) and I am a Project Officer at the Australian Financial Security Authority. I am currently working on a project that looks at how we respond to vulnerability for those that are or considering bankruptcy and what opportunities there are to take a whole-of-government approach. I have been watching the progress of the life events work for a while now and think this kind of approach might work more broadly for those that are experiencing financial difficulties.

If anyone has been involved in work on vulnerability in government, is interested in collaborating or even just wants to chat - please reach out!

    Hi everyone

I'm Keirin, or Kizz as most people I know call me. I'm a user researcher for Services Australia. I've been in the HCD and service design space over the years and now I'm looking to go deeper to hone in on my research skills.

Love to be challenged and continue to grow and learn from others. I also see great value in cross-pollinating our research, knowledge and work - as Tamara said below, no point reinventing the wheel!

Good to be part of the community.

    Hi Belle,

Just before I left GovX is was one of the life events we spoke about while completing desktop research for the Veteran life event. We noted that both events had some similarities especially around elite athletes.

I will see if I can dig up anything and send it over.

    Thanks,
